Opinion
In my opinion, I believe that punks and hippies are similar in their musical movements, they both took a stand against authority even if it was in two different ways. The hippie movement was all about protesting peacefully, and trying to change the government, quickly with their peace and love movement. While the Punk movement was all about taking stands against the government throughout their music. Their music also was very different: while the Hippies believed in making fun of the government, the punks believed in taking stands against the government with in their music. They both believed in rebelling/revolting against any authority they didn't believe in, and it has inspired me in greatly. They both are amazing in being influential no matter what "bad things" they may have done or experienced. The hippies believed in standing up for whats right but in a peaceful manor. While the Punks believed in for standing up for whats right, and if it doesn't work keep trying! In my opinion these are the two most amazing music movements I have ever read about and I'm glad I learn what influences the music of today, because I have learned how to fight for something I believe in peacefully and to keep trying if it doesn't work.
